POWER OF VISUALS

Alongside conflict, one of the big things to keep in mind as Feature Film and TV Writers– we work in a visual medium!

Motion Pictures

As you write, and pitch, losing sight of our work being in a visual medium can be fatal to a project!

So with that in mind, key elements to include in your pitches are:

  • What does this movie look like? (Includes setting, character’s physicality, etc.)

  • What happens on screen?

Those two questions, if you can’t answer them, severely hurt your project’s chances of ever moving past the pitch or script stage.

So when you write, keep asking yourself, “what is the visual”? What kind of MOTION PICTURES will the audience be able to see, or SOUNDS to here?

If you keep that basic in mind, you will do much better than a lot of aspiring writers who are trying to make it in Hollywood.
